North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Permit Course
The North Carolina Concealed Carry Handgun Permit course is designed for the law abiding citizen of legal age who wishes to carry a concealed handgun. In this course, you will gain the knowledge of firearm safety, laws governing carrying a concealed firearm, laws concerning the use of deadly force and the added responsibility of firearm ownership. Upon completion of this course you may apply to the State of North Carolina for a Concealed Carry Handgun Permit at your county Sheriff’s office. You must be at least 21 years of age to enroll in this course, own a handgun and apply for a North Carolina conceal carry permit. This permit course will be a minimum of eight hours classroom time plus range qualification time as required by the State of North Carolina.
No Prior Experience Necessary!!
Course Objective:
- Rules for safe handling of a firearm.
- Laws regarding the carrying a concealed handgun and the use of deadly force.
- Where you may and may not carry a firearm.
- Proper storage with emphases on securing a firearm to reduce the risk of theft and access from unauthorized individuals.
- Caliber selection, differences between semi-auto pistols and revolvers, intended use of different bullet shapes and options.
- Grip, stance and sight alignment.
- Loading, unloading and possible malfunctions.
- Clearing malfunctions.
- Proper maintenance of your firearm.
- To pass the course you will learn to demonstrate safe handling and firing your handgun with accurately placed shots from various distances.

What you need to bring with you:
- Pen and Paper for note taking.
- A handgun with holster and belt. If you do not have a handgun, Lake Norman Firearms will let you borrow one for class at no cost. However, we do require you purchase the ammo for that gun at our shop.
- 50 rounds of factory loaded ammunition.
- Hearing and eye protection. If you do not have hearing and eye protection, Lake Norman Firearms will let you borrow some for class at no cost.
- Please bring a valid and up-to-date NC Driver's License or NC State ID for verification of age and identity for the issuance of your certificate of completion.
Course Fee: $110.00 which includes a $25.00 non-refundable deposit at the time of registration. Included in the cost of this course is your target required for qualification, range fees and all applicable course material. This course is 8 hours - Plus qualification time on the range as required by the State of North Carolina.
